Kadi Hektor´s work is characterized by a strong artistic approach – it is a mixture of natural objects that she has seen around her. Interpreting these objects in her own way, her´s artistic style is balancing between abstract and figurative, functional and decorative.
Kadi describes her creative process as follows: " Nature fascinates and inspires me the most – nature, which has created so many charmingly bizarre forms, structures, textures, and systems. I prefer to observe and examine nature at close range, and if it is possible, on the inside too. I'm not trying to copy nature; instead I let my subconscious impressions synthesize them. Only then will I turn to design and create my own organic sculptures."
Kadi Hektor was born in Estonia, on 1976 and studied at the Estonian Academy of Arts (1998-2002). After that she has worked freelance in her own ceramics studio, where she has also organized and instructed ceramic courses and workshops. Since 2002, she has had some solo exhibitions, and she has participated in many group exhibitions in Estonia, Europe and Asia . Since 2015 Kadi Hektor has been selected for major exhibitions and has received several grants for her artistic practice. Her work can be found in public and private collections.
