    Description

    The White Lava collection by ccontinua + mamt recalls a moon landscape, where white porcelain lava flows overlap with fine line drawings, resembling cave paintings on the stone.
    Each piece is hand-thrown on the wheel using a mix of four different stoneware – combined with black lava sands.

    Words and drawings speak about the moon and the mystery around her: mermaids, fishes, the waves of the sea, salty skin and stars are all elements of this dreamy imaginary.
    The shapes are inspired by ancestral objects, like laundry baskets and food conservation jars, reinterpreted with a contemporary twist.

    ccontinua+mamt is the result of the collaboration between Chiara Caselli and Francesco Carrasso, an Italian creative duo based in Amsterdam. With a complementary and multidisciplinary approach, they develop projects in various fields, from painting and tattoos to ceramics and textiles. The inspiration for their ceramics works comes from Chiara’s profound passion for working with clay and porcelain, blended with Francesco\'s artistic and figurative intervention, giving birth to their \"tattooed ceramics\". With them, they intent to explore on clay the art of hand-poke tattooing, a technique that has been an integral part of Mamt artistic journey for years. The materials they choose to work with serve as a medium for expressing a narrative rooted in the poetry of a dreamlike imagination conveyed through primitive and folkloristic storytelling. Moving beyond the boundaries that separate art and design, they explore the contemporary worldas a reflection of social patterns, needs, and aesthetic values. The outcomes consist of mystical spaces and decorated objects that, akin to amulets, elicit emotions and memories in the viewer, while also fostering connections between individuals and their surroundings.
